Organic Millet Grain is an ancient grain which is less common but hugely versatile in the world of whole food. If you haven’t tried it before, you will be surprised how tasty and nutritious it is. The millet is hulled by removing the indigestible covering before it can be consumed.

Once cooked, organic millet becomes a soft, absorbent grain, similar to couscous in consistency. It is a source of plant protein so is a great choice for vegetarians and vegans. Also, it can be cooked into a porridge, be added to soups, stews or served as a side dish.

Millet has a deep rooted history in many cultures and is known in Asian traditions to be alkalising and cooling. Although it is not a particularly trendy grain in the West, it is known in Asian Culinary History as ‘The Queen of the Grains’. Millet originated in Africa where it is particularly useful as it grows in weakened soil and even survive drought.

Millet is delicious with a simple garlic, lemon, oil and salt dressing.
